The Raw Celebrity Corner *Victoria Boutenko's book Green for Life appeared many times on a recent episode of "The Girls Next Door," the popular E! Channel reality show about Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner's three girlfriends. The show's stars kept consulting the book to get super fit before making an exercise video. *On the August 3, 2005Tonight Show, Jay Leno told guest Sharon Stone that before he was married, to meet girls he would never go to bars. Here's an excerpt from: Elvis Presley's Own Story: If I Can Dream, by Larry Geller and Joel Spector with Patricia Romanowski, based on the secret diary kept by Larry Geller, Elvis' friend and confidant: One day in 1973, he [Elvis] asked, "What do you eat?"As if he didn't know. My "bizarre" eating habits--I was a vegetarian then--were the subject of countless Memphis Mafia wisecracks. "Well," I said, "I eat as much raw food as I can, raw fruits and vegetables, and I don't eat meat." After I had explained my approach to nutrition, he nodded. Later that night, as we were all sitting down to dinner at the Holmby Hills house in Los Angeles, he said, "So that you all know what's happening around here, I'm changing my diet. Because the spiritual teachings say that you have to eat right, I'll be eating a lot of vegetables now, a lot of salads, and raw fruits. I'm telling the maids, and that's what they're going to make for me." Out went the brownies, the ice cream, the chicken-fried steak, the burgers. Elvis ate only fresh, nutritious, healthy foods--for two days. Then it was back to the same old nonsense.

*When In Style magazine asked a bunch of celebrities "What's the strangest thing in your fridge?" actress Alicia Silverstone said the following: "Raw Balls. I like the name. They're made of dates, walnuts, almonds, carob and salt. They are so good." *Actress Alicia Silverstone brought raw foods to the attention of millions of viewers on the June 8, 2001 Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Sitting there chatting with Jay, the movie star said some raw hippie friends showed her how a compost pile will keep her yard from dissolving in a mudslide. But she didn't utter the word "raw" just once! "These raw vegans are de-aging themselves by eating raw foods," Alicia said. She raved about a 60-year-old Chicago woman who looks 35 because she eats raw foods. Jay asked Alicia what the mechanism is. She responded that he'd have to ask some raw foodists to explain the technicalities. Will Jay bring some raw foodists on his show for a recipe demo? Will Jay try raw foods himself? Could it be that he's eating them already? (We notice he's been looking more svelte lately.) Bravo, Alicia, for championing raw foods on the Tonight Show! Editor's Note: Have you heard about Chef Juliano's Raw-Food Video? * Blake Graham reports: The Oprah show featured a raw foodist who owns Karyn's Corner, a raw restaurant in Chicago.
