Talia is a little girl from the city, who mis-hears her grandmother's request to gather some root vegetables from her grandmother's outside-the-city garden. In this charming picture book, little Talia goes looking for "rude" vegetables. The story is a sweet one, and the illustrations are richly painted and fun to look at.
As a nice bonus, the book includes a vegan-optional recipe for "Rude" Vegetable Stew that children can enjoy making. Although the book mentions the Jewish New Year (which already took place this autumn), this is a delightful book that all children can appreciate, whatever their faith and whatever the time of year. We especially love its focus on vegetables and growing them in a garden. It would make a nice holiday gift.
